Google Docs and Social Networking
Well due to our library computer crashing, I am unable to complete my google doc's explore as i sent it in from home and now can't access it. However i get the gist of it all and think its a very useful tool for everyone. I have been promoting it to our local students as a way of being able to access their documents at our library. Our library doesn't allow the use of memory sticks which always causes panic with students coming in to print documents when their home computers crahs(happens alot out here in the bush- all to do with slow networks and not viruses).
Lastly i spent lst night looking and exploring facebook and the Animanga CLub. The teenaage online club is a great idea. Also online book clubs for those who cannot make it to meetings.
This course has been a wonderful but rather frustrating journey at times. The theory behind the technology is wonderful but sometimes it just doesn't work out here in the bush. Our slow network and home connection - although both are broadband - seems to stop thigns from happening. I certainly have recommended some of our patrtons to have a look though.
The best thing to happen was to be approached by our local U3A group to give them an introduction to Web 2.0 tools later in the year. Talk about the blind leading the blind!!
However, i feel prviledged that i was aked and am now going to go to the Meckleberg Library site and go thru the modules there - a bit later when i catch up on things.
Thank you very much to the staff at the State Library for all your support - its been great.
